Arrive at accommodation at ; Rolling M Bush Camp or Ukuthula Guest House at Rolling M Ranch (prop M Bentley). Evening lecture from historian on local area. Links to Blood River, the Anglo-Boer War, Royal Naval field gun run competition & the Swartkop Challenge |

Assemble at Ranch for trail briefing with guide.
Explore the access to the base of the Gunslide on Swartkop [2.5km track 1:1 in places]. On foot to top of Swartkop [150m; absolutely no vehicles are to attempt to mount the gunslide]
Lunch at Rolling M |

Drive across Skiet Drift. Drive below Vaalkranz hill and out on track past Machonochie Kopjes, over Potgieter’s Bridge and then along the north side of Swartkop and back to Mambasa Camp. [Route of ca 18km]
End of day’s Trails. Supper at Rolling M |

Cross Skiet Drift and follow district road to Ladysmith’s Wagon Hill. Meet guide at Platrand Memorial for presentation of the siege and history of the hill. [30min drive]
Drive along to Bester’s Farm and along the track through the game reserve and return to Wagon Hill for open-air lunch. [ca 12km] |

The Battlefield weekend will run on the third weekend of each month (the Sunday being the counting day) ie 18-19 Nov; 16-17 Dec; 20-21 Jan; 17-18 Feb etc but may be postponed due to weather conditions. Subject to availability per prices below. |
Prices |
A minimum 5 and maximum of 10 vehicles with two persons sharing vehicle and accommodation, specialist history guide; driving fees and lunches on Saturday and Sunday; VAT at prevailing rate :-
